Imagine LA

Imagine bringing people together—and bringing the best out of everyone.

Imagine LA

Imagine Los Angeles —together as one.

Center on love.

Imagine LA works at an essential juncture in our society, helping families build opportunity where the social safety net does not. It might sound cliché, but what they do at their core is bring people together. People from across a multitude of zip codes, backgrounds, and experiences partner to create stability, wellbeing, and financial independence. Sure, some of those people are volunteers, some are staff, and some are the very families this organization exists to benefit, but the relationships are defined by their horizontality and mutuality. In this ecosystem, everyone contributes and everyone benefits.

How do we build a just world?

Case managers, mentors, staff, volunteers, board, and donors at Imagine LA ask themselves that question every day. The pursuit of a society in which each fellow human is safe, healthy, and prosperous is what drives Imagine LA. Thus, they commit to a collective purpose: building equity together.

How do we lift up each other?

The love and respect shared by families, mentors, staff, board, and donors create an ecosystem in which all contribute and all benefit. Person-to-person connections—true symbiotic relationships—are the essence of the work at Imagine LA.

What does a family need?

Stability affords every family the freedom to pursue their goals. Imagine LA walks alongside families as they regain stability through emotional wellness and financial independence. This transformation leads to con- fidence, self-sufficiency, and lasting potential.

The greatest challenge for Imagine LA: how to articulate their focus on ending intergenerational poverty and homelessness without defining a family by their most challenging moments. And in order to do that—to shift the story from an agency offering programming to a committed group of individuals walking alongside families—we had to turn over every stone.
